Drop-Off Productions Presents:
Las Rosas w/ Special Guests
Drop-Off Productions presents an evening of explosive garage-pop and rock ‘n’ roll featuring Brooklyn psych-rock trio Las Rosas. Formed in 2013 by guitarist Jose Boyer, bassist Jose Aybar, and drummer Christopher Lauderdale, Las Rosas make superior poppy garage-psych, with a flair for hooks, melody and arrangement. The band blends catchy guitar riffs soaked in cellophane, spiralling out from heavy bass lines saturated in lo-fi moon-eyed pop vibes delivered with authority and muscle, at times recalling some of the most exciting work by bands such as Shannon and the Clams, amongst others. Boyer had previously found success as a member of Matador act Harlem while also playing in the band Daytona with Lauderdale. Aybar, meanwhile, played in Brooklyn cult band Wilk Yaks. Together they pool their previous bands’ best attributes – as hypnotic as they are raucous. The bands Burger Records-issued debut five-song cassette, Flower in the Sun, arrived in late 2013, followed a year later by the self-released “Ms. America/Sensitive Flower” 7″. Las Rosas eventually found a home with Brooklyn indie Ernest Jenning Record Co. and released their debut full-length, Everyone Gets Exactly What They Want, in March 2017. Fresh off the heels of that release, the band recently dropped a new 7” via Greenway Records in February serving up a nice bit of Kinks-influenced, guitar pop and are slated to release a brand new full-length, Shadow By Your Side, due out on May 11th. Las Rosas has shared the stage and toured Europe and North America with some of the best the garge-psych scene has to offer, including La Luz, King Khan and the Shrines, L.A. Witch, Nick Waterhouse, and these days, when the psych-punk genre has countless acolytes churning out speedy power-chord anthems at the altar of John Dwyer, Las Rosas take care to build songs with the minor refrains and plotted turns of a composer’s brain without the hubris or arrogance that might otherwise keep them at a distance from their people – refreshing…and straight from the heart of ’60s psychedelia. Additional support to be announced.
